Elfen Lied is about a, for lack of a better term, new species of human (yeah I know; an oxymoron) called Diclonius. It stars a 18 year old Diclonius who after a life of torment wants to destroy humanity. However in the first episode she develops an alternate personality that is basically a retarded five-year-old. It is actually kind of funny watching when she switches form dim-wit to genocidal and sadistic.

Also, I would like to note that the show has extensive nudity. At times it is actually borderline hentai, but assuming you can get past that it really isn't that bad.

Anyway... the series can be funny at times and at other times pretty bad-ass. Still though, I only recommend watching it if you have free time, it is not exceptionally good but worth it if you have some time to kill.
